Entry Requirements

UK/EU

260 UCAS tariff points. All courses require 5 GCSE’s at A-C including Maths and English. Applicants who do not fulfil the above entry criteria will be considered on an individual basis, taking into account other factors.

Access to HE Diploma

A pass in the Access Diploma. Plus GCSE English Language and Mathematics  at grade A*-C, or specified equivalents.

International Students 

  • English language proficiency level to IELTS 6.0 or equivalent

Scholarships for students from Pakistan 2014 – updated 18/3/14

The University of Salford is offering an unrestricted number of scholarships to talented Pakistani students enrolling on undergraduate or taught postgraduate programmes in 2014. Over the last three years Salford has awarded over £2,000,000 in scholarships to international students, making it the largest scholarship scheme of its kind in the UK.

The University of Salford now has three awards open to Pakistani students: the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship, and the Pakistan Country Discount, which are open for all students; and the Science Bursary for science and technology candidates. In addition to these awards, candidates who pay in full at or before registration receive a Prompt Payment Discount, while Salford alumni will receive a large Loyalty Discount.

 

1)         Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Postgraduate candidates must hold a relevant 4 year Bachelor’s Degree with minimum GPA 2.7/4.0 or 60%; or a relevant 3 year Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) with 80%+; or a 2 year Bachelor’s Degree plus a 2 years Masters Degree with GPA 2.9/4.0 or 65%; or an equivalent qualification from overseas.
  • Undergraduate candidates must have achieved minimum ABB in A Levels, or equivalent qualifications from overseas); or 70% in Salford’s IFY programme; or Edexcel HND including minimum eight distinctions (out of 16 modules); or equivalent qualifications from overseas.
  • Candidates must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship and their intention to enrol at The University of Salford, by accepting their unconditional offer of a place and paying a deposit, so that a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to support a visa application may be issued.
  • Candidates must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees (non EU).

Application procedures:

  • There is no need to make a separate scholarship application. All eligible candidates will be considered on the basis of their course application form.
  • Awards of the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarships will be confirmed at the same time an unconditional offer is made on an application.
  • Scholarship awards will be deducted from the tuition fees payable to the University upon enrolment.
  • Students must be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses.
  • Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Eligible Courses:

  • All Masters level courses taught at The University of Salford are eligible for Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship awards. This includes MBA, MSc, MA, and LLM qualifications.
  • All Bachelors level courses taught at The University of Salford are eligible for Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship awards. This includes BA, BSc, BEng, MEng, and LLB qualifications.
  • The International Foundation Year is not eligible. However, students joining the International Foundation Year who achieve 70% during their foundation year will receive the award when progressing to the Bachelors stage.
  • This scholarship is not available for postgraduate research programmes.

Award details:

  1. a) Postgraduate
  • Candidates joining The Salford MBA, MSc Petroleum and Gas Engineering, or MSc Gas Engineering and Management will be awarded a £4,000 scholarship.
  • Candidates joining courses with tuition fees at or above £11,000 will be awarded a £3,000 scholarship.
  • Candidates joining courses with tuition fees below £11,000 will be awarded a £2,000 scholarship.
  • In addition to this scholarship, all candidates from Pakistan will receive a further £1,000 Pakistan Country Discount for each year of study. Candidates who pay tuition fees in full at or before registration will also be entitled to a full fee payment discount.
  • All scholarships are for one year only.
  1. b) Undergraduate
  • Candidates joining courses with tuition fees at or above £11,000 will be awarded a £5,000 scholarship.
  • Candidates joining courses with tuition fees below £11,000 will be awarded a £3,000 scholarship.
  • In addition to this scholarship, all candidates from Pakistan will receive a further £1,000 Pakistan Country Discount for each year of study. Candidates who pay tuition fees in full at or before registration will also be entitled to a full fee payment discount.
  • All scholarships are for one year only.

2)         Pakistan Country Discount

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must have Pakistani nationality
  • Candidates must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees (non EU).

Application procedures:

  • There is no need to make a separate application.
  • Awards of Country Discounts will be confirmed in the offer letter.
  • Country Discount awards will be deducted from the tuition fees payable to the University upon enrolment.
  • Students must be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses.
  • Country Discounts cannot be deferred.

Eligible Courses:

  • All Masters level courses taught at The University of Salford are eligible for Country Discount awards. This includes MBA, MSc, MA, and LLM qualifications.
  • All Bachelors level courses taught at The University of Salford are eligible for Country Discount awards. This includes BA, BSc, BEng, MEng, and LLB qualifications.
  • This scholarship is not available for postgraduate research programmes.

Award details:

  1. a) Postgraduate
  • Candidates will receive a £1,000 award.
  • All awards are for one year only.
  • The Country Discount may be awarded in addition to a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  1. b) Undergraduate
  • Candidates will receive a £1,000 award in their first year of study at the University.
  • Candidates will receive a £1,000 award in subsequent years subject to satisfactory progression.
  • The Country Discount may be awarded in addition to a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.

3)         Science Bursary

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Postgraduate candidates must hold a relevant 4 year Bachelor’s Degree with minimum GPA 2.5/4.0 or 55%; or a relevant 3 year Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) with 75%+; or a 2 year Bachelor’s Degree plus a 2 years Masters Degree with GPA 2.7/4.0 or 60%; or an equivalent qualification from overseas.
  • Candidates must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship and their intention to enrol at The University of Salford, by accepting their unconditional offer of a place and paying a £4,400 deposit, so that a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to support a visa application may be issued.
  • Candidates must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees (non EU).
  • Candidates who are awarded a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship will not receive a Science Bursary. The Science Bursary scheme is designed to reward students who have achieved a good degree but who have not quite met the criteria for a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship.

Application procedures:

  • There is no need to make a separate scholarship application. All eligible candidates will be considered on the basis of their course application form.
  • Awards of the Science and Technology Bursaries will be confirmed at the same time an unconditional offer is made on an application.
  • Scholarship awards will be deducted from the tuition fees payable to the University upon enrolment.
  • Students must be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses.
  • Scholarships cannot be deferred.

Eligible Courses:

  • All Masters level courses taught within the College of Science and Technology at The University of Salford are eligible for Science and Technology Bursary awards. This includes MSc qualifications in the following schools: School of the Built Environment, School of Computing, Science and Engineering, School of Environment and Life Sciences.
  • This scholarship is not available for postgraduate research programmes.

Award details:

  • Candidates will be awarded a £1,000 scholarship.
  • In addition to this scholarship, all candidates from Pakistan will receive a further £1,000 Pakistan Country Discount for each year of study. Candidates who pay tuition fees in full at or before registration will also be entitled to a full fee payment discount.
  • All scholarships are for one year only.

4)         Prompt Payment Discount

A 3% discount will be applied to the fees payable after any deductions for students who pay in full at or before registration.

 

5)         Loyalty Discount

A 25% discount will be awarded to University of Salford alumni who join a taught Masters course in September 2014.
